Derek Chisora vs David Price 26.10.2019
London, October 26 — Under the bright lights of the O2 Arena, Derek Chisora once again proved he’s far from finished in the heavyweight ranks, dispatching late replacement David Price via fourth-round stoppage in a gritty domestic showdown.
With original opponent Joseph Parker side-lined by illness, it was Price who stepped in with just weeks’ notice, but the Liverpool giant quickly found himself overwhelmed by the unrelenting pressure of Chisora’s aggressive assault.
From the opening bell, Chisora set a relentless tempo. Eschewing finesse for firepower, the Londoner waded forward with intent, digging cruel shots to the body and crashing overhands upstairs. Price, armed with considerable height and reach, tried to weather the storm with jabs and timely counters, but it was clear by the end of the third that Chisora was closing in.
After hammering Price to the ropes late in round three, Chisora briefly looked shaken by a sneaky uppercut as the bell rang. But whatever daze lingered quickly faded — in the fourth, “Del Boy” charged out of his corner like a man possessed. A short, snapping right hook sent Price sprawling, and although the Liverpudlian beat the count, his corner had seen enough, throwing in the towel to save their fighter from further punishment.
Referee Howard Foster waved it off at the two-minute mark of the fourth round, awarding Chisora his 33rd career win and his third stoppage victory of the year.
This triumph, though not against his originally scheduled opponent, keeps Chisora squarely in the frame for another marquee matchup. With Joseph Parker still a target once fully recovered, the 35-year-old may also pivot toward showdowns with rising contender Oleksandr Usyk or the divisive Jarrell “Big Baby” Miller — both compelling stylistic contrasts to Chisora’s bruising brawler approach.
Despite the short notice, Price showed grit and moments of danger — including that stinging third-round uppercut — but ultimately couldn’t match the pace or punch resistance of his veteran foe. As the heavyweight division continues to reshuffle, Chisora’s destructive win ensures his name remains in the mix.
Whether it’s Parker, Usyk, or another top contender, one thing is certain: Derek Chisora isn’t just showing up to compete — he’s coming to break the door down.
