Daniel Dubois vs Ebenezer Tetteh 27.09.2019
Daniel ‘Dynamite’ Dubois showcased his power and potential once again with a swift first-round knockout of Ghana’s Ebenezer Tetteh in their heavyweight bout at London’s iconic Royal Albert Hall. This victory marked Dubois’ fourth knockout win of the year, solidifying his reputation as a formidable contender in the heavyweight division.
Dubois, an unbeaten prospect turned contender, faced Tetteh (19-1, 16 KOs), who was fighting outside of his home country for the first time. Despite Tetteh’s impressive record, it quickly became apparent that he was no match for Dubois. The Ghanaian fighter’s nervousness was evident, particularly when his corner failed to insert his gumshield just before the fight began.
The bout commenced with Dubois demonstrating his calculated aggression. He landed a powerful body shot before flooring Tetteh with a devastating right hook midway through the first round. Although Tetteh managed to beat the count, it was clear he was in trouble. Dubois seized the opportunity, unleashing a relentless left-right combination that left Tetteh reeling. Referee Mark Lyson stepped in to stop the fight at 2:10 of the first round, preventing further damage to the outmatched Tetteh.
This victory enhanced Dubois’ record to 13-0, with 12 of those wins coming by way of knockout. The 22-year-old Londoner added the vacant Commonwealth title to his growing list of accolades, reinforcing his status as one of the brightest young talents in the sport. His win over Tetteh followed a string of impressive performances, including a fifth-round stoppage of previously unbeaten Nathan Gorman in July.
Dubois has consistently shown his ability to dismantle opponents with precision and power. His four knockouts in 2019 have all ended within five rounds, with Friday’s bout marking his quickest finish since a 48-second stoppage of AJ Carter over two years ago.
With each victory, Dubois edges closer to the elite tier of the heavyweight division. The boxing world eagerly anticipates how far this young powerhouse can go, as he continues to carve out his place among the sport’s top contenders.
